Fall is in the air and it's time to dig out your trusty old sweaters and sturdy jeans.

When I think about fall, I'm reminded of candied apples and caramel treats. I feel the warmth of a spiced beverage in my hand as a cool breeze swirls through my hair and crisp leaves crunch under my boots. I think about the sun peaking through the leaves in the afternoon, casting a warm glow on everything it touches, and the beautiful long sunsets streaking vibrant reds and oranges across the sky.

Here a few of my go-to outfits for when the weather drops and nights get longer.

Fall is the season for layers. A classic look is something that features a shirt, an outer layer, some thicker bottoms, and interesting accessories. The look I'm sporting here matches a pastel green button-up with a muted teal crochet cardigan. On the bottom, I'm wearing classic skinny blue jeans and black platform boots for a hint of edge and attitude.

Outerwear: Muted Teal Crochet Cardigan, Urban Outfitters
Top: Pastel Green Button-Up, Express
Bottom: Skinny Blue Jeans, H&M
Shoes: Black Platform Boots, Aldo

Again, outerwear is key during colder weather. An all-black outfit will always be chic and allows you to play with different textures. Here, I've added a bright belt to break up the darkness and draw the eye to some detail.

Outerwear: Black Trench, H&M
Top: Black Turtleneck Crop, H&M
Belt: Red Skinny Belt, Gap
Bottom: Black Jeans, H&M
Shoes: Black Platform Boots, Aldo

School starts again in the fall and what is styling without a rift on the classics? A chunky neutral sweater keeps me warm while the skirt and stockings are a throwback to to some school-girl classics. Hiking boots add interest without unnecessary drama.

Choker: Matte Black Chain Choker, H&M
Top: Beige Knit Sweater, Stolen From an Ex
Bottom: Black Pleather Skirt, Forever 21
Stockings: Thigh-high Stockings, Macy's
Shoes: Mauve Hiking Boots, Doc Martens

Thigh-length blazers tie everything together. When in doubt, they're an easy fix to any wardrobe complications. Spandex-like leggings salute the eighties trend that is all the rage right now and casual Docs dress down an otherwise theatrical look.

Collar: Silver Collar, Thrifted
Bracelet, Silver and Black Bracelet, My Intent
Outerwear: Black Blazer, Zara
Top: Army-Green Crop, H&M
Bottom: Shiny Black Leggings, American Apparel
Shoes: Grey Boots, Doc Martens
